Bhutan have over six hundred bird species including the endemic and endangered, the country has been considered a paradise for the bird watchers. Imperial Heron and rare Black-Necked Crane both of which are endangered bird species can be spotted in the country along with Beautiful Nuthatch and Blyth’s Kingfisher. Bhutan has the reason to believe that this dragon land is no doubt another paradise for travelers to explore the chirping birds. Today, this Himalayan province is one of the most important places of biological significance in the world. The country boasts of gamut of rare bird species and flora and fauna. Day 01: Arrive Paro On arrival a you will receive by our Guide and driver at Paro airport and escort you to your hotel. Day 02: Birding in Paro After having a breakfast, proceed towards your bird watching tour in Paro. The popular sites for watching those rare species are Taktsang Lhakhang, Rinpung Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, and Ta Dzong. Here, you can especially watch those exotic avifauna species. Day 03: Paro-Thimphu After having a breakfast, proceed towards Thimphu because it will be your second destination for watching those rare species. Here, you can buy some birds stamps which are usually sold as a good omen to keep around yourself. The rare bird species that you can see at this place are Laughing Thrush, Fire Capped Tit, Yellow-Backed Flower Packer, and Maroon Backed Accentor. Here, you may get a chance to give a rest to your camera because you will also see many architectural beauties at this place. Finally, return to your hotel room in the evening. Day 04: Thimphu to Punakha and Wangduephodrang After having a breakfast, get ready to resume your journey because today, you will be heading towards Punakha. During this journey, you will make a short halt at Do Chula Pass, where you can admire the beauty of eastern Himalayan peaks. At Do Chula Pass, you can also get a glimpse of some of the bird species like Rufous-breasted Bush Robin, Fire-tailed Myzornis, Black-eared Shrike Babblers, Grey-winged Blackbird, and Gold-billed Magpie. On reaching Punakha, proceed towards a sightseeing tour to Punakha Dzong where you can easily spot birds like White-breasted Kingfisher, Black-Chinned Yuhina, Large Gray Babbler. After that, you will move towards Wangduephodrang where you will check-in your hotel room for an overnight. Hotel in Wangdue Day 05: Wangduephodrang to Gangtey After having a breakfast, get ready to resume your journey and today, you will be making a move to Gangtey. This road journey will be done through Black Mountain region where you can catch some glimpse of birds like Fire-breasted Flowerpecker, Amur Falcon, Red-headed Bullfinch, etc humming in silence. On reaching Gangtey, proceed towards check-in process and after that, you have the rest of day to yourself to explore the region or take some rest. Day 06: Gangtey to Trongsa After having a breakfast, get ready to resume your journey and today, you will be following your footsteps to Trongsa. During this trip, you will be cruising deep inside the silver fir forest where you can catch a glimpse of Gold-napped Finch. If you are lucky, you might also catch a peaceful site of the elusive Fulvous Parrotbill. On reaching Trongsa, proceed towards check-in process and get ready for your city tour. The stretch will give tones of opportunity to spot some of the rare species like Streak-breasted Scimitar Babblers, Rufous-bellied Eagle, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Common Kestrel, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar Babblers, White-browed Scimitar Babblers, Long-tailed Shrikes, and Common Green Magpie. Finally, return to your hotel room in the evening for an overnight. Day 07 : Trongsa – Zhemgang – Tingtibi Depart for Zhemgang and Tingtibi following the Mangde Chhu River. Species found in this area are Pin-tailed Green Pigeons, Red-headed Trogon, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Chestnut-breasted Partridge, Hill Partridge, Coral-billed Scimitar Babbler, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Great Hornbill, White-browed Piculet, Speckled Piculet and many more. Overnight stay in tented camp. Day 08, 09, & 10 : ~ Birding in Tingtibi and Manas Explore Tingtibi where you can spot the Great Hornbill, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Wreated Hornbill, Lesser Yellownape, Scarlet Minivet, Sultan Tit, Black-eared Shrike-babbler, White- winged Cuckooshrike, Large Cuckooshrike, Bar-winged Flycatcher-shrike, Large Woodshrike, Long-tailed Broadbill, Silver-eared Broadbill, Himalayan Goldenback, Greater Goldenback and many more. Overnight stay in tented camp. Day 11 : Tingtibi – Bumthang In the morning before heading to Bumthang you will try to spot the Beautiful Nuthatch and the sapphire flycatcher. Then drive to Bumthang crossing over Yotong La pass 3,400m. En route spot the Chestnut-tailed Minla, Brown Parrotbill, Black-faced Laughing thrush, Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush and Gold-naped Finch. Evening, walk along the Chamkhar Chu River in Bumthang valley to spot the Little Bunting, Red-billed Chough, Blyth’s pipit and Common Sandpiper. Overnight hotel in Bumthang. Day 12: Bumthang Today you will sight pheasants if missed in the previous days. Visit Tharparling monastery for magnificent Himalayan Monal and Satyr Tragopan. Besides, you will sight Spot-winged Grosbeak, Darian Redstart, Olive-backed Pipit, Oriental Skylark, Black-billed Magpie, etc. Overnight stay in hotel, Trongsa. Day 13: Bumthang to Thimphu After having a breakfast, get ready to resume your journey and today, you will be following your footsteps to Thimphu. On reaching Thimphu, proceed towards the check-in process and after that, the day is at your disposal. So, spend it however you wish to. You can go explore the local markets and shop for some Bhutanese traditional clothing. Day 14: Thimphu-Paro Departure After having a delicious breakfast, check-out from the hotel room and you will then be transferred to Paro Airport. And with this, the tour ends with some handful of memories!
In the afternoon birding along the Pachhu river, you will sight waterbirds like; Ibisbill, Brown Dipper, White-capped Water Redstart, River Lapwing, Plumbeous Water Redstart.
